One of many other semi-intelligent creatures the humans sent underground long before it became their own prison, goblins would foam at the mouth to hear any accusation against their intellect. Cunning but short-lived, their cultural memory has bred a great hatred for the humans- though these days, more for the way they've rearranged and expanded in the caves than for their crimes of old.
Though their architecture is simple, cobbled stone used to dam up natural and hand-dug caverns, Goblins are renowned for being some of the fastest and most efficient diggers around. Be it metals, precious gemstones, or ancient artifacts, Goblins have a precious nose for shinies and goodies.
They've been trading with Yatszerkai since they first came to the caverns, and though they lack the magical strength of humans, they have managed to keep up in their war against humanity handily. Between the abundance of weaponry they've procured through a century of trading and their growing tendency to accidentally come upon ancient arcane artifacts, Goblins have no reason to end this guerilla war any time soon. Even so, some may be found in non-Goblin settlements. Whether wise traders or handy grifters, the prejudice against their kind won't stop most of the stubborn, hardy creatures.
