At present, Yatszerkai are the oldest known sentient, non-arcane creatures native to Tamstrahd. They lived in the caverns long before humans discovered there and will continue on living there long after.

Living in carved-out, complex cavern systems and hovels constructed of stone bricks and metals, the Yatszeri are known for being excellent metallurgists. They keep much of their work secret from the other races, preferring to live in isolated settlements in the warmer parts of the caves.

Though they warred with humans long ago when they first claimed their caverns as a prison, they've held tenuous peace with humanity for a long time and are known as excellent traders.
